      The Institute of Medical Robotics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a university-level multidisciplinary research platform. The Institute involves different disciplines such as biology, medicine, mechanics, materials, information, control and computer, and integrates research, education, development, clinical, translation and service. The Institute has established ten centres in the areas of surgical robotics, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, hospital automation and high-throughput robotics, micro-nano systems, perception and cognition, intelligent composites, bioelectronics, bio-hybrid and bionic systems, bio-photonics, precision electromechanics and manufacturing and robotic vision and imaging intervention.

            Since its establishment, the Institute has been working to build a world-class and leading R&D platform for core medical robotics technologies, a platform to support the transformation of key technologies in Shanghai and China's medical robotics industry, and a gathering place for masters in cutting-edge medical robotics research and talents in industrial transformation with international influence.

    Research interests: biophotonics, micro and nano manufacturing, micro and nano biomaterials, computer vision, magnetic resonance imaging technology, flexible electronics

     

    Job duties:

    1、To engage in scientific research, actively participate in national, provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, achieve landmark scientific and technological achievements with international advanced level, and publish high-level academic papers;

    2、Assist in the application, execution and completion of projects;

    3、To actively participate in the construction of laboratories and assist in supervising student projects;

    3、Participate in the construction of the Institute and other scientific research activities.

     

    Recruitment requirements:

    1、Obtained a PhD degree with postgraduate qualifications in the last three years from a well-known university or research institution at home and abroad;

    2、Have published high level research papers or have strong scientific research and development ability in relevant fields;

    3, independent research ability and teamwork spirit, strong initiative;

    4、Good oral and written expression skills in English.

    Job Description:

    Recently years witnessed the unprecedented success of deep learning in medi-cal image analysis research. The translation of such a success to clinical interventions requires to address various challenges that currently limit the applicability of deep learning including difficulty in quantification of uncertainty of a deep learning algorithm, availability of limited labeled data and existence of different imaging protocols. Funded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, we have two 100% position for research on deep learning-based medical image computing. We closely work with clinicians in related fields and have already collected large data sets with expert annotations. We have already acquired a number of computers equipped with high-end GPUs for large scale experiments and we have a team of talented PhD students working on developing deep learning algorithms.


    Requirements:

    We are look for a creative and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering or related fields, with a strong track-record in machine learning and deep learning as well as their applications in medical image analysis or computer vision tasks. Good communication skills and expertise in software development, preferably in Python/C++, are essential. Having strong knowledge about one of the existing deep learning frame-works such as Caffee, Tensorflow or PyTorch will be preferred.
     

    Conditions of employment:

    The initial employment duration will be two years but can be extended to five years after a positive evaluation. The annual salary will be around $50,000.0 plus fringe benefits in Shanghai, China.
