Current Status and Trends of Interventional Pulmonology
Interventional pulmonology is a discipline that emphasizes the application of advanced bronchoscopy and transthoracic needle biopsy to a series of diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases, which plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases. Its diagnosis and treatment scope mainly include central airways obstruction and lesions caused by benign or malignant diseases, diagnosis of intrathoracic lymph node enlargement, peripheral pulmonary lesions, early lung cancer which is not suitable for surgery, interventional treatment of advanced stage of thoracic tumor and chronic airway inflammatory disease. With the development of modern technology and the integration of disciplines, machine learning and artificial intelligence have greatly expanded the diagnostic and application value of images (CT, EBUS, OCT, CLE, ROSE) used in interventional pulmonology. The combination of robotic technology, transthoracic technology, and bronchoscopic technology break the limits of human manipulation and reduces the difficulty of the procedure. These are two important trends for the development of interventional pulmonology in the future.
