Abstract

Shape-morphable microrobots can adapt their morphology to changingenvironments and tasks. However, monitoring their shape remains asignificant challenge. Here, we present a thermoresponsive magneticmicrorobot integrated with flexible radio-frequency (RF) electronics forwireless shape sensing. The microrobot consists of a thermoresponsivemagnetic hydrogel, an anisotropic mechanical support structure, and anembedded flexible dipole antenna. Temperature-induced actuationreversibly transforms the microrobot between helical and planarconfiqurations while maintaining magnetic actuation. The resultingchange in antenna geometry produces distinct RF responses that enableremote identification of the microrobot's shape. This work demonstratesa simple and robust strategy for integrating flexible electronics into softmicrorobots, providing wireless shape feedback for future adaptive andclosed-loop microrobotic systems.
