Guoyan Zheng

In 1992 and 1995, Guoyan-Zheng received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, First Military Medical University. In 2002, he obtained a Doctoral degree from the University of Bern in Switzerland and stayed there to work. In 2005, he founded the Laboratory of Medical Information Processing at the Institute of Surgical Technology and Biomechanics of the University of Bern and served as the laboratory director. 

In 2010, he was awarded the Privatdozent (PD) title at the University of Bern. He then worked as an associate professor from 2015 until the end of 2018, then joined Shanghai Jiaotong University on January 1, 2019. He is currently a tenured professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University, a doctoral supervisor, and director of the Image Navigation Intervention Center of the Medical Robotics Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Before returning to China, he presided over three innovation projects of the Swiss Innovation Agency, three of the Swiss Natural Science Foundation of China, and one of the Japan-Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation Project projects. At the same time, he was awarded four projects by the Swiss Natural Science Foundation of China as a co-applicant. More than 220 peer-reviewed international conference and journal papers have been published, and Google has cited 3538 times. Published three books in internationally renowned publishing houses Springer and Elsevier. 8 invention patents in the United States and Europe have been authorized.

In 2006 and 2018, he won the best technical paper at the International Computer-Aided Orthopedics Annual Conference. In 2018, he won the Springer Best Paper Award at the International Image Analysis and Recognition Conference. Moreover, in 2018, he won the best paper at the MICCAI Symposium on Computational Methods and Clinical Applications in Spine Imaging. In 2017, he won the Best Paper Award at the Machine Learning Symposium in MICCAI Medical Imaging. In 2014, he won the International Conference on Computer-Aided Radiology and Surgery Posting Paper Award. Furthermore, in 2012, he won the Best Basic Paper Award in the Journal of Laryngology and Otology. In 2009, it won the Ypsomed Innovation Foundation Research and Development Award. In 2014, he won first prize in the modelling competition of the International Statistical Shape Modeling Conference. In 2017, he won third place among 21 participating teams in the International Infant Brain Image Segmentation Competition.
